2011 - Reskilling Workshops

(download full booklet below) We ran the following workshops;

1.      Apple pressing at the Nayland Fete with promotion of both the 30;30 food challenge and the workshops, in support and collaboration with the Nayland transition group, and the embryonic Colchester transition group.

@ 100 people spoken too in the day

2.      Bread Making with Leon Pearson of the Slow Dough Bakery in East Bergholt – was very popular and we ran it twice on 22nd January 2011 and 5th March 2011.

@15 people attended

     3. Film showing of Seeds belong yumi about seed saving skills.

@ 20 people attended

     4. Growing fruit organically with Marina O’Connell at hte Apricot centre 15th January 2011, all day.

@ 6 people attended

5. Rearing chickens for meat 28th January 2011 with Laynn West in Dedham, ran.

@ 8 people attended

       6. Bread Making workshop with Nayland primary school in March in March 2011the school chose this out of a range offered and Leon Person ran the day.

@ 30 children worked with.


The grafting workshop did not book sufficiently to run the event, 2 other school were contacted East Bergholt re- preserves workshop and Dedham primary school re bread making workshop, even starting the communications last September we didn’t managed to run these events – it seems the schools are just too busy.

Interesting spin offs; People attending the workshops have signed up to the email newsletter and come along to other related events that we have continued from last year, we also have a veg growing allotment event later on in the summer so the project will be sustainable in the long term.
