'The children had such a great day learning about different vegetables, picking and tasting herbs, collecting produce for the cooking lesson'.

Every year we invite schools to our farm to learn about local, seasonal and sustainable food production. Over the past two weeks we’ve had 60 children from The Grove primary school in Totnes visit us. The group harvested courgettes, cucumbers, spring onions, herbs and flowers and then worked in small groups to chop, construct and devour delicious and nutritious Vietnamese summer rolls with Hannah and Caspar from our team. This visit was part of The Grove's partnership with the charity Chefs in Schools who are transforming school lunches and food education.

'What a wonderful place the Apricot Centre is. The passion that the team has for what they are doing is clear to see. The children had such a great day learning about different vegetables, picking and tasting herbs, collecting produce for the cooking lesson,  the importance of bugs and bees and growing the right things to attract them. Then they took all their produce inside and had a great time spiralizing, grating, peeling and chopping vegetables, but they weren't done yet the wonderful Hannah then showed them how to make this into summer rolls, which they took to with real enthusiasm. Last but by no means least they then tasted their hard work to a resounding these are delicious and I am so making these at home!'
