Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist,

EMDR PRACTITIONER

I have provided child and adolescent psychotherapy for the Apricot Centre Wellbeing Service for over three years and enjoy being part of such a strong team. Prior to this, I was employed by CAMHS Tier 2 to support children in parallel with parent/carer therapy. I have also contributed and run Group Attunement Workshops in local children centres for toddlers and babies. Previously, I initiated and developed a counselling system for Leigh Beck Junior School, providing child psychotherapy for over five years.

I specialise in providing psychotherapy to support adoption, fostering and life story work. I have experience of providing therapy for families, parents/carers, children, and adolescents at a complex level. In addition, I offer informed Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy and am in the process of full accreditation within this field. I believe that the child’s wellbeing flourishes when key adults around the child are similarly supported, challenged and nurtured. I make use of a range of art approaches including role play, sand tray, painting and clay work to compliment the therapeutic process. My practice is grounded within an integrative framework including psychodynamic, attachment, and gestalt theory.

Furthermore, I have over 25 years teaching experience and expertise of children with special needs. I work part-time at The St Christopher School for children with complex needs; especially those on the autistic spectrum, with ADHD or experiencing emotional behavioural difficulties.
