I am an art therapist who has specialised in working with children, young people and with parents and children together (Dyadic Art therapy) for the last fifteen years in the charity sector and in private practice.

I believe in child-centred, child-led therapy using art materials, clay, sand trays and puppets. I help people to find a way to express their thoughts and feelings and process their emotions through creativity and play.

In my individual work I look at the young person in context of their environment, working together with those surrounding the child to improve the outcome. Together I work with the child or young person to identify new strategies for expressing and managing feelings, thoughts and behaviours at home and at school. I hope to build resilience, encourage and support them. I also believe in inclusivity, working with parents and teachers, with the child at the centre of our thinking.

Dyadic art therapy is a way of working that focuses on the relationship between the child and the parent. The sessions are intended to enhance a parent’s understanding of their child’s thoughts, feelings and mental landscape and deepen the bonds of attachment. Through this understanding it is hoped the parent will have a greater ability to support their child.
