Art Psychotherapist

PGCE Dip, Art Psychotherapy (Goldsmiths;) BTEC DIP. Art and Design;Dip.Montessori(2-7yrs.) Full Member of The British Association of Art Therapists

I have worked primarily in mental health and learning disabilities services (community, inpatient assessment and treatment and secure settings) in both the NHS and private sector. I developed my clinical practice in recent years, with a Foundation in Family Systemic Therapy, with children, young people and families. My passion and enjoyment of working with children developed from my work as a Montessori teacher in London. I established my own Nursery and Infant school in the 1980’s before moving on to teach in primary and special needs education. I have also worked in secondary education as an inclusion manager with students who struggled in a classroom environment.

I am trained in Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP) Level 2, Dyadic Art Psychotherapy, Mentalisation Based Therapy and Positive Behavioural Support for young people and adults with Learning Disabilities. My experience is informed by an Attachment and Trauma working model through the use of art, creative play and narrative sand tray. I draw on personal reflections with analysis to bring about change, build resilience and find hope in a young person’s journey.
